Project Overview

Originally constructed as a family holiday home in 1970's, the house comprised of a two-storey brick structure with a front garden which connected the house to a ghat. The design began with a thorough investigation of the existing. Exploring the possibilities of converting the existing spaces into guest rooms with circulation for movement, planning of services with wet areas, and surgically inserting columns to expand the structure on top. All this with a sense to minimize demolition and preserve the existing materials and features.

‍
This adaptation of the existing spatial quality for a hotel purpose with careful opening up of the views from the guest rooms lends the unique and boutique character. This is further strengthened by the choice of material which is diverse yet contextual.
